Criada para transformar realidades e provocar mudanças positivas no planeta por meio da música e da educação artística, a campanha promovida pela fundação Playing for Change é conhecida no mundo todo e tem apoiadores como Bono Vox (U2), Marron 5, Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) e Jack Johnson. O objetivo é fazer com que crianças das comunidades onde atua se desenvolvam em harmonia, crescendo em um ambiente que inspire paz, música e aprendizado.

O que pouca gente sabe é que no Brasil a Playing for Change escolheu Curitiba, especificamente o bairro Cajuru, para montar sua sede. Lá, aproximadamente 60 crianças são atendidas, com idades entre 7 e 14 anos em contra turno escolar. Elas participam de aulas que visam desenvolver cidadania, disciplina, técnica e conhecimento em instrumentos diversificados, expressões corporais e voz. Os outros países onde a fundação possui projetos são África do Sul, Argentina, Bangladesh, Gana, Mali, Marrocos, México, Ruanda e Tailândia.

Doações

Em Curitiba, o custo mensal para a manutenção do projeto é de R$ 15 mil por mês. Para ajudar com os custos, a fundação está solicitando doações, que podem ser a partir de R$ 1,00, pelo site ou pelo aplicativo BIGHUG – empresa parceira do projeto no Brasil. Os doadores concorrem a uma viagem com passagens e hospedagem pagas para qualquer lugar do mundo em que esteja ocorrendo o evento Playing for Change Day 2019, que acontece simultaneamente no dia 21 de setembro em diversos lugares do mundo. O evento PFC Day ocorre em cidades como Nova York, Rio de Janeiro, Mumbai, Metz e Madrid. A data limite para as doações é até o próximo dia 26 de junho.
