Startup curitibana é o primeiro unicórnio da Região Sul; aporte de fundo americano vai acelerar expansão

A startup curitibana Ebanx acaba de receber a denominação unicórnio do Vale do Pinhão – movimento lançado pela prefeitura de Curitiba para promover ações de Cidades Inteligentes – e da Região Sul. O termo é dado às empresas de tecnologia avaliadas em US$ 1 bilhão ou mais. Até hoje, todas as empresas que chegaram à marca eram de São Paulo ou do Rio de Janeiro.
O status de unicórnio aconteceu após a startup receber recursos do FTV Capital, fundo de investimento do Vale do Silício, dos Estados Unidos. A Ebanx é conhecida por ajudar empresas estrangeiras como Airbnb, Spotify e Aliexpress, a vender no Brasil e América Latina com pagamentos em moeda local.
O valor do aporte não foi revelado, mas segundo a empresa parte dele será usada para acelerar seu crescimento em Curitiba, onde tem 500 empregados, com a contratação de novos funcionários e abertura de outros escritórios, evoluir nas áreas de vendas, marketing e TI e investir na expansão pela América Latina. O objetivo é dobrar o volume de processamento em dois anos, para mais de US$ 2 bilhões.
O prefeito Rafael Greca comemorou a decisão e destacou que desde o início de sua gestão Curitiba vem desenvolvendo ações para que a cidade volte a ter um ambiente mais favorável a investimentos, com incentivos fiscais a empresas que investem em tecnologia e inovação.
