Muitos significados e ativismo marcam a exposição AI WEIWEI RAIZ, no MON

O Museu Oscar Niemeyer (MON) inaugurou na última quinta-feira (02), a exposição AI WEIWEI RAIZ – do artista plástico Ai Weiwei – um dos principais nomes da arte contemporânea. Com projeto desenvolvido e curado por Marcello Dantas, a mostra chega a Curitiba, após passar por São Paulo e Belo Horizonte, para apresentar a história deste brilhante artista por meio dos seus icônicos trabalhos, além de obras inéditas nascidas de uma imersão profunda pelo Brasil e suas tradições.
Assessor artístico na construção do estádio Ninho dos Pássaros, em Pequim, onde foram celebrados os jogos olímpicos de 2008, Ai Weiwei tem como característica marcante o seu ativismo, que fica muito claro em toda a exposição. “As pessoas acham que ele é um artista radical, o que de fato ele é pela sua postura, mas o que ele defende, são direitos humanos fundamentais, direito de vida. E ele expressa isso nas suas obras”, explica Dantas.
O curador chama a atenção para o nome da exposição – a de maior acervo da sua carreira até hoje. “O nome vem da forma que Ai Weiwei tem de trabalhar, resgatando raízes culturais, raízes de práticas, raízes das pessoas, raízes simbólicas e raízes literalmente. Quando pensávamos na exposição, estávamos trabalhando com esse conceito metafórico de raízes, mas quando ele chegou na Bahia, se deparou com raízes milenares que reforçaram sua ideia”, conclui.
Para Juliana Vosnika, diretora presidente do MON, a exposição é uma oportunidade rara para que todo o Sul do país possa conhecer o talento e expressão artística de Ai Weiwei. “Ele é uma das principais expressões da arte e da cultura no mundo e poder ter a exposição Ai WEIWEI RAIZ no MON foi muito especial, principalmente agora, em um momento que outras exposições do museu conversam diretamente com essa, como que se completassem”, explica Juliana.
AI WEIWEI RAIZ fica no MON por três meses seguindo para o Rio de Janeiro, onde encerra sua temporada no Brasil.
