Meu encontro com Fidel Castro em Cuba regado a baforadas
Um dos objetivos deste portal é dar dicas de vinhos, viagens e charutos sem a pretensão de ser um conhecedor profundo de cada assunto. A ideia é compartilhar experiências que a vida de colunista social me proporcionou em quase duas décadas e meia. Iniciei direto no charuto cubano, sem nunca ter fumado nenhum tipo de cigarro antes – absolutamente nenhum. De lá para cá foram mais ou menos 11 viagens a Cuba para participar do Festival Internacional del Habano, a grande festa anual do charuto cubano, realizada na última quinzena de fevereiro. O evento reúne aficionados do mundo inteiro durante quatro dias, em Havana, com direito a festa de gala de abertura, coquetéis nas inúmeras e charmosas charutarias da capital cubana, feira e a monumental cena de gala de enceramento.
Foi numa dessas, em 2006, que conheci e troquei breves palavras com o então comandante Fidel Castro e com o lendário músico cubano Compay Segundo, um dos fundadores do grupo Buena Vista Social Club. Ideologia à parte, o encontro com Fidel foi inesquecível para mim. Ainda mais porque eu estava com um charuto na mão. Um ano depois ele passou o poder – ou fez que passou – ao irmão, Raul. Assim, caro leitor, a ideia desta coluna é dividir um pouco das minhas experiências com algumas das boas coisas da vida. Logo espero trazer algumas dicas de bons charutos existentes no mercado.
